As you know, just about all businesses on the web need a website – usually. But if you do, how would you be able to make those product/service sales? And of course you’ll need some mechanism to collect customer data such as email addresses and other info. There’s much more involved than only having a website before you can begin earning money with it. Your website needs to be able to convert traffic into customers – that’s what you need. Before starting, it’s normal for people to get some kind of vision, or idea, of the kind of website they want to build. Do you know if your vision resembles what would be a profitable site? We want to offer some design tips that can help you make the most out of your vision.
To have an appealing website, strike a balance between written words and images. Many internet marketers are inclined to place many pictures on their sites and not many written words. They assume that site visitors do not have the patience to scroll through lots of text.
There is some validity to this idea, and you can’t expect people to read long pages full of text; however, you also have to be careful about using too many images. Remember, if you use too many graphics on your website, it will take a long time to load. It could also tell your traffic that you don’t know enough about your product or service to sell it correctly. You really have to find the right balance between words and pictures. If you really want to check your site thoroughly, you have to use several browsers, not just one. For some websites, using a different browser will change some elements in how the site looks. For example, your site might appear to be purple on Google Chrome, bright red with Internet Explorer and crimson on Firefox.
It might seem like a pain to look at your site in all of the different browsers but it is well worth the time. You want to make sure that everybody views your site correctly no matter what browser they use. To do this right, you have to look the whole site over on each browser, including the fonts, colors and alignment and making sure any buttons and links work as they should. This is worth doing to ensure all of your visitors can see your site as it should be!
Popup windows are another “in your face” kind of device that many visitors won’t appreciate.
Popup windows actually cover up your site’s content, which your visitors are hopefully there to see (they did not come to immediately give you their personal information, as these popups usually demand), and they can be hard to close. It’s not a good idea to force your visitors to view things like popups when they enter your site. This is the kind of website feature that could be preventing you from making many sales!
Don’t use popup windows to keep people from leaving your site either. If someone wants to click away from your site, let them go. If they’ve already decided to go, you can’t force them to stay by making them deal with extra popup windows. This is the kind of practice that will make it less likely your visitors will ever return. You can use many different techniques and strategies to make your internet marketing business profitable. Having a quality website, however, is one of the most fundamental tools you need. Having a good website is not that difficult; you simply have to pay attention to how it looks and not neglect anything.
At first you may have to put some time into it, but it’s well worth it if you want to get lots of visitors who want to stay for a while. Once you start to make money from your website, you’ll realize how worthwhile it was to put some work into it.
